My Marrakesh - a guided shopping tour
Marrakesh, Morocco

May 21 - 28, 2011

Have you ever imagined learning about Moroccan design, taking a guided shopping trip with an expert, visiting the charming coastal town of ESSAOURIA or relaxing in a hammam like LES BAINS DES MARRAKESH all the while staying at one of the most beautiful hotels in Marrakesh? Here is your chance.

MARYAM MONTAGUE, owner of Peacock Pavilions, MOROCCAN LIFESTYLE and cultural expert, interior design consultant, writer and author of MY MARRAKESH will be taking time out of her very busy schedule to spend time with you and teach about the wonders of Moroccan décor. You will learn how to shop while in Morocco, what are the key items to bring home with you, tips on what to expect to pay and where to shop in the best locations that Marrakesh has to offer.

Spending time with and learning from Maryam is a crash course on the very best in Moroccan shopping. Her knowledge on Moroccan handicrafts and the excitement she shares will make you treasure each and every item you purchase. Not surprisingly, whe has sourced beautiful Moroccan goods for stores and individuals worldwide and was the featured personal shopper in Susan Simon's book, Shopping in Marrakech.

During their stay, guests will stay at PEACOCK PAVILIONS, an 8-acre estate that Maryam and her husband built from the ground up. Surrounded by olive trees, Peacock Pavilions is both Maryam and her family's home as well as a boutique hotel. Two of the three pavilions are guest houses (Atlas and Medina Pavilions); the getaway sleeps 12 people (double occupancy) in six bedrooms with access to the estate's five acres of olive groves, rose gardensan 800-square-foot pool, an outdoor cinema, embroidered dining tent and running path. Peacock Pavilions, the boutique hotel, has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers, including, Her, the New York Times, and New York Magazine.

Maryam's part of the estate is about 4,500 square feet of living space including including an attached tower. The result is a property that is stylish and exceptionally eclectic. “My mother has had a lifelong passion for interior design and taught me everything I know about grace and beauty. Most importantly, she instilled in me the importance of creating a lovely home environment, no matter how humble.

“I can’t really explain how it feels when I go outside each morning and see that it’s all real,” she says. “I still want to pinch myself.” Maryam and her family’s journey to Peacock Pavilions was the subject of a feature on HGTV’S HOUSE HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL.

Maryam has written or contributed to articles about Morocco and Marrakech for numerous magazines, newspapers, and guidebooks including National Geographic, The Financial Times, Food & Wine, Gourmet, The Guardian, Time, Budget Travel, Somerset, Stitch, Girlfriend Getaways, Fodors, Clickair, and many others.
